Windy conditions expected to continue into Monday evening, diminish overnight

The National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh said windy conditions are expected to continue into Monday evening, with wind diminishing overnight.

A 33 mph wind gust was reported along state Route 416 on the south end of New Philadephia at 1:10 p.m. Monday. At Harry Clever Field in New Philadelphia, a 32 mph gust was recorded at 12:59 p.m. A 31 mph gust was reported in Sugarcreek ar 12:45 p.m.

In Muskingum County, a 36 mph gust was reported at Blue Rock at 10:20 a.m. Monday. The was a 33 mph gust at the Zanesville airport at 10:59 a.m.

The gusty conditions occurred as cold air mixed with warmer air. The temperature dropped 19 degrees over 12 hours on Monday, falling from 56 degrees at 2:53 a.m. to 37 degrees at 2:53 p.m. at Harry Clever Field in New Philadelphia.

Today's forecast includes a chance of showers, mainly before 4 p.m. Conditions are expected to be cloudy, with a high near 54. A west wind is forecast to be 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

The weather service expects mostly cloudy conditions tonight with a low around 22 degrees and a west wind of 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday is forecast to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 32 degrees, a nighttime low around 24 degrees and a light southwest wind.

On Wednesday, snow is likely before 8 a.m. The sky is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 35 degrees and calm wind. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Wednesday night's low is forecast to be around 22 degrees.

Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 43 degrees.
