Windsor Locks PZC OKs warehouse

Sep. 28—WINDSOR LOCKS — The Planning and Zoning Commission this month approved construction of a warehouse on Hamilton Road where an unused parking lot now sits.

The commission approved construction of what will be an approximately 250,000-square- foot warehouse at 30 Hamilton Road.

Hamilton Sundstrand used the parking lot at the site, but the land had been on the market for sale in recent years, according to Town Planner Jennifer Rodriguez.

Representatives from Laureiro Engineering Associates and Crosskey Architects presented details about the proposed warehouse on Sept. 12.

When completed, the warehouse will be about 45 feet tall, with 43 docks and three entrances, and be capable of housing up to four tenants at a time, they said.

Rodriguez said the warehouse is large compared to other, mostly smaller warehouses in town that have been around for decades.

Rodriguez said the location is ideal, right next to Route 20 exit and entrance ramps, and in close proximity to Bradley International Airport.

The land to be built on was on the market for a few years, until a lot line revision was completed over the winter. Then it sold fairly quickly, Rodriguez said.

At the same PZC meeting, Rodriguez advised the commission that she would be working on a draft of regulations for cannabis businesses in town. She asked commission members to bring suggestions to the next meeting.
