Wild Josh Allen first down leads to even wilder Bills TD vs. Cowboys

A lot of football fans got their first look at the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving.

Those who missed Buffalo’s 8-3 start got a good taste of what they’ve been missing with a wild sequence in the second quarter.

Facing fourth-and-1 at the Cowboys 30-yard line, quarterback Josh Allen rushed to the line of scrimmage after coming up short on a third-down sneak.

The snap hit the ground, apparently putting an end to Buffalo’s aggressive strategy on the drive.

But wait. Allen wasn’t done with the play. The Bills second-year quarterback scrambled to pick up the ball in a pile of players and powered through the Cowboys defensive line for an emphatic first down.

One play later, the Bills cashed in on Allen’s hustle with a trick play worthy of a Thanksgiving audience. Allen took the snap cleanly this time before handing off to wide receiver Andre Roberts on a sweep.

Roberts then tossed the ball on a reverse to wide receiver John Brown, who lofted a perfect pass down the right sideline to running back Devin Singletary, who ran into the end zone untouched for a 28-yard touchdown.

Only Stephen Hauschka’s missed extra point kept it from being a perfect sequence for the Bills, who took a 13-7 lead on the drive.

Either way, Buffalo’s a lot more exciting that most fans thought coming into Thursday.
