Whoopi Goldberg says 'sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be' after on-air clash with Meghan McCain

After a tense day on Monday’s episode of The View, the co-hosts opened Tuesday’s show by clearing the air. The conflict started during a heated exchange between moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-host Meghan McCain where Goldberg ordered McCain to “stop talking right now.” McCain fired back that she wouldn’t talk for the rest of the show, to which Goldberg replied, “I’m okay with that.” Goldberg addressed the clash and told viewers, “Things get heated on this show. If you watch this show, you know this has happened over the years.” She continued, “We’re really passionate. This is our jobs. We come in, we talk to each other and sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is.” McCain also addressed the controversy. “Whoopi and I get along great. I love you very much, and I’ve loved you for a long time,” said McCain. “We fight like we’re family. It’s all good. We’re not tearing the set apart. Calm down. All of you.” Added Goldberg: “It’s always been like this. People clash and have gone back and forth.” McCain revealed that she objected to the way the incident was covered by media outlets, a sentiment shared in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. “I think the media blowing it up — I just don’t think it would happen with men,” she said. “I, for one, am over it,” she added.
