What's Rubio done for Florida?

We elected Sen. Marco Rubio to represent the interests of Floridians and vote for the policies that would improve our lives. But has he? Or has he been a silent soldier marching like a lemming to Mitch McConnell's orders to obstruct any and every idea put forward to help America catch up with the rest of the world in our social policies?

Here are some of the initiatives Rubio has made it clear he will vote against: increased Social Security benefits for seniors, including vision and dental coverage; lower prescription prices, again which would help seniors who are being gouged by the big drug companies; universal pre-K for children three and four years old; affordable housing, of which Palm Beach County has little. He's opposed to addressing climate change, which is already starting to affect any Floridian living near our coastline.

What has he done? Someone please tell me. Oh, he called out Gen. Mark Milley for doing his job. Rubio will soon begin his campaign for another term, at which point Floridians need to ask: What have you done?

Missing detail hurt article

Re: "Oath Keepers head charged with seditious conspiracy," Jan. 14: It looks like the reporters intentionally left out an important detail. Conveniently there is no mention that the extremist group had been "planning the attack" on the U.S. Capitol for many months. If that one important piece of information had been included by the two reporters who wrote the article it would have given insight and recognition of the fact that President Trump was not the driving force behind the event on Jan. 6, 2021.

King editorial unfair to Gov. DeSantis

Fifty-four years after Martin Luther King's death and his huge contributions to the civil rights movement, not nearly enough progress has been made. But, victimhood in blame never works. It's destructive. "Wokeness" is destructive. Why teach young people that the world hates them because of their skin color? Why teach children to hate their own country? It's a message that will not help lift people up. Florida is thriving compared to other states yet you and your paper continue to try to portray Gov. DeSantis as a failure because he doesn't support the policies that are hurting other states. The proof is in the number of people relocating to Florida from New England, Illinois and California.

Hostage situation deserved better coverage

I get your paper everyday, so I didn’t miss the hostage situation. It took your paper three days to put it on the fourth page. Talk about anti-Semitic about Jewish people. Shameful.
