Western, Northwest qualify for NCAA Track Championships

May 18—Missouri Western will send a record seven participants to next week's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan, while Northwest will send eight qualifers.

MWSU will compete in five events, a new program record. Hanna Williams will compete in the 400-meter dash as the No. 11 seed and will race in the 4x100 with Aneesa Abdul-Hameed, Aniya Kollore and Savannah Simmons.

Freshman Madison Nash is the second seed in the women's 10,000.

Jordan Garr will make his outdoor championship debut in the shot put, and Nate Daugherty-Parrish will compete in discus.

For Northwest, Bailey Blake qualified in the women's 800 and 4x400, along with Kaylee Harp, Haley Luna and Chloe Seanz. Harp will also compete in the 800 while Saenz races in the 400, and Caroline Cunningham will race in the 3,000 steeplechase. Sarah Prickett will compete in the 100 hurdles.

On the men's side, Dakota Schmidt advanced in the javelin while Reece Smith qualified in the 5,000 and 3,000 steeplechase.

The championships will be held May 26-28 at Grand Valley State.
