Wes Lee discusses NXT Vengeance Day.

Lee has been featured on NXT in recent years since he and Nash Carter debuted in January 2021. The duo, known as MSK, captured the NXT Tag Team Championship twice before Carter was released in April 2022. Since then, Lee has established himself as a singles star. He won his first singles title, the NXT North American Championship, at NXT Halloween Havoc 2022. Lee defended the title against Dijak at NXT Vengeance Day 2023.

Speaking on Busted Open, Lee shared his thoughts following his match at NXT Vengeance Day. He noted that he and Dijak had the recipe for a “magical moment.” He made it clear that he always wants to showcase his abilities to the best of his abilities. Lee then sated that, in doing so, he hopes to inspire others to do the same thing and level up in the process.

“I know what I bring to the table, and I also know what Dijak brings to the table,” Lee said. “So it was a recipe for a magical moment. I love healthy competition. So like, I’m gonna go out there, and I’m gonna showcase myself to the best of my abilities.

“I’ll be a king of thieves and walk away with the show every single night if I have to, but I just want to showcase my ability the best that I can so I can inspire individuals to do the exact same thing if it leads to everyone else stepping up and leveling themselves up in the process. Then I feel like I’m doing my job the proper way.”

Lee also shared his thoughts on what it felt like to compete in front of a packed live crowd at NXT Vengeance Day. The event was particularly meaningful for the NXT brand, as it was only the second time it traveled outside of the WWE Performance Center since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the energy was electric. Lee expressed his excitement for the future as he noted that he’s looking forward to seeing where else NXT could go.

“That’s hard to put into words, honestly. I don’t know if you can tell from the moment that I stepped out of that silo for my entrance that energy was electric. I felt every cheer just vibrating through my body as I was making my entrance, and it’s a feeling that is extremely hard to describe. But once you feel it that one time, it’s something that you are chasing for a very long time again, and being out on the road.

“Being outside of Orlando, being in Charlotte was really, really dope because they really appreciated what it is that we did. It was felt the entire night. So stepping out of Orlando, and I’m looking forward to all of the other places that we end up stepping to because the product that we have is amazing, but it’s an amazing product that is even better in person. So when people were able to see that and feel the energy and the vibe that we’re creating and putting out there for everybody. It elicits that kind of reaction. It’s a magical thing, it really is.”

Dijak suffered an apparent injury during his match with Lee, and Shawn Michaels offered an update after the show. Check out his comments here.
