Wendy's employee charged with murder after customer fatally hit at Arizona restaurant

PHOENIX — A Wendy's employee is being charged with second degree murder after a man was struck in the head in a Arizona fast food restaurant in July, and later died.

An altercation occurred in Prescott Valley, over 75 miles north of Phoenix, involving a Wendy's employee and a customer around 4:45 p.m. on July 26, according to the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Officials said a customer complained about his food order when Antoine Kendrick, a 35-year-old Wendy's employee, came from behind the service counter and struck the customer in the head.

This caused the customer to fall to the floor and lose consciousness, according to officials.

The customer, a 67-year-old Dewey resident, was air-lifted to a Valley hospital where he was in critical condition, officials said. On Aug. 5, the man succumbed to his injuries.

Kendrick was initially arrested and booked under the charge of aggravated assault, which has been elevated to second degree murder. He remains in custody, according to online jail records.
