Weekend roundup: Aberdeen Wings split pair of weekend games against Bismarck
The Aberdeen Wings split a pair of weekend games against rival Bismarck in North American Hockey League action.
Saturday in North Dakota, three third-period goals boosted the Wings to a 5-4 victory. Jacob Bosse, Cade Neilson and Chase Davis found the net in the first 13:36 of the period as the Wing built a 5-1 lead.
Neilson finished with two goals and two assists, with his tally 1:41 into the game providing a strong start.
Friday night at home, the Wings built a 2-0 lead, but gave up four goals in 2:07 in the second period. Two Aberdeen goals early in the third period weren't enough to complete the comeback as the Bobcats picked up a 5-4 win at the Odde Ice Center.
Quinn Rudrud scored goals 15 seconds apart as Bismarck tied the game early in the second period.
Nielson and Will Gilson had two assists each for the Wings, who are now 10-9-0-1 and in fourth place in the Central Division. They host Minot Friday and Saturday night at the Odde Ice Center with both games starting at 7:15 p.m.
