Boys baskeball

Discovery 65, Haines City 61

Highlights: Ashan Starr made a 3-pointer with 34 second left to tie the score then Seth Mathews followed with a steal and a monsterous dunk to put the Spartans up by two points with less than 20 seconds remaining. Willie Wilson led Discover with 29 points, and Starr added 15 points on five 3-pointers. Luey Jean and Manny Taylor each had 15 points for Haines City.

Victory Christian 86, Kathleen 61

Highlights: LJ Cason scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Cason surpassed 1,000 points for his career. Jordan Lanier had 13 points and Mike Andino added 10 points and five rebounds.

Victory Christian 74, McKeel 53

Highlights: LJ Cason had 24 points and seven rebounds, and Mike Andino added 17 points. Jordan Lanier finished with eight points and six rebounds, and Jozia Scott also scored eight points. Billy Heddon scored 25 points, and Alex Sessoms scored 14 points.

McKeel 61, Frostproof 35

Highlights: Alex Sessoms scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Billy Heddon scored nine points with 12 rebounds, and Antonio Morris added eight points.

McKeel 63, Lake Gibson 43

Highlights: Alex Sessoms scored 26 points, and KJ Socbey scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats. Derrick McBride scored 10 points for the Braves.

George Jenkins 67, Sebring 61

Highlights: Maddox Harold led Jenkins with 16 points, and Jaquan Cross added 10 points.

Bartow 62, Santa Fe Catholic 48

Highlights: Jayson Williams scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and EJ Horton scored 15 points to lead the Yellow Jackets over the Crimson Hawks. Demarion Smith had five steals. For Santa Fe, Hudson Dykhuizen scored 15 points.

Santa Fe Catholic 59, George Jenkins 52

Highlights: Santa Fe went up by two points after three quarters after the two teams were tied at halftime, 34-34, then pulled away in the fourth quarter. For Santa Fe, Hudson Dykhuizen led with 19 pints, A Jones scored 17 points, and Tate Darner added 13 points. For Jenkins, Antonio Wright scored 20 points, and Maddox Harold scored 12 points

Girls Basketball

Discovery 56, McKeel 30

Highlights: Jezabell Bernard led Discovery with 16 points, and Monajah Ford added 11. For McKeel, Mycah Hicks led with eight points

McKeel 49, Victory Christian 33

Highlights: McKeel started the game with intense pressure on defense that set the tone for the game. Nicaria McHellon had 10 points and six rebounds, and Skylar Smith had 10 points and three steals to lead McKeel.

McKeel 40, Lakeland Christian 22

Highlights: Jenna Jordan was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 16 points. Annabelle Miller led LCS with six points.

Boys Soccer

Lakeland Christian 2, Winter Haven 1

Highlights: Adrian Villanueva scored two goals, and Hale Ottman and Trace Andrews each had an assist.

Bartow 5, Ridge Community 0

Highlights: Bartow came out strong and took control early off the foot of freshman Adolfo Perez, who had two goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Senior Kevin Curtan made it 3-0 entering the half. In the second half, senior Chance Campbell and senior Luis "Brian" Perez scored on a penalty kick. Sophomore goalie Gideon Campbell earned his first shutout.

Bartow 6, Auburndale 1

Highlights: Auburdnale scored first but Bartow tied it 1-1 at halftime then scored five goals in the second half. Chance Campbell scored the first two goals, then Sebastian Brock, Luis "Chito" Cortez and Keelan McKinzy, Justin Adams scored one goal each.

Bartow 1, McKeel 0

Highlights: This was a quarterfinal match in the county tournament. The Yellow Jackets fought through injuries that sidelined key players in a defensive battle. The game remained scoreless until the final three minutes. Senior Luis "Chito" Cortez headed in a corner kick for the game's only goal. This was the second shutout of the season for sophmore goalkeeper Gideon Campbell.

Winter Haven 1, Bartow 1

Highlights: For Winter Haven, Luke Pitts scored with an assist from MacAlister Kranzler Ratcliffe.

McKeel 2, Mulberry 1

Highlights: Calvin Steele scored two goals, and Drew Snyder added two assists. Derek Gomez scored for Mulberry. Nate Miller had five saves for McKeel.

Lakeland 1, Fort Meade 0

Highlights: Jackson Winter scored for Lakeland with an assist for Lathan Williamson. Synjin Englund had five saves.

Lakeland 6, Poinciana 2

Highlights: For Lakeland, Sam Blackwell and Jackson Winter scored two goals, and Sami Djahankhah and Mark Johnson scored one goal each. Nicholas Roman and Tanner Billich each had two assists, and Connor Melvin had one assist.

George Jenkins 6, Four Corners 0

Highlights: Brady Pennywell, Alexia Cherilus, Jayson Robins, Semaj Ponton, Anthony Ruiz and James Williams each scored one goal. Bradley Pennywell, Jayson Robins and Carter Culala each had one assist.

Lake Gibson 6, George Jenkins 1

Highlights: Chad Johnston scored four goals with one assist, and Christopher Johnson scored two goals with two assists to lead the Braves, who also got one assist each from Aaron Duncan, Andres Jerez, and Eddie Garcia Barros. For Jenkins, Brady Pennywell scored with an assist from Geo Garcia.

Auburndale 5, Lake Gibson 1

Highlights: Peyton Battilla scored three goals and added one assist to lead the Bloodhounds. Alainey Hancock and Adrienne Cardona each added one goal, and McKenna Battilla had an assist. For Lake Gibson, Kierra Hoiler scored.

Winter Haven 5, Fort Meade 1

Highlights: Brianna Woodruff scored three goals with one assist to lead the Blue Devils. Brenda Milne, and Babby Medrano-Flores each scored one goal with one assist. Ty Campbell and Bliss Updike each had an assist.

McKeel 2, George Jenkins 0

Highlights: Ava King and Madison Caustic each scored one goal, and Maria Nielsen had one assist.

Lakeland 7, Frostproof 0

Highlights: The Dreadnaughts dominated the game from the kickoff. They received goals from Sofia Oliver and Naomi Garner with two each, and Reese Hughes, Alissa Wills and Hilda Curtis with one each. Assists from Bree Horvatin had two assists, and Reese Hughes, Sofia Olivera, Valeria Bautista and Megan Volpe had one assist each.

Lakeland 3 Lake Wales 2

Highlights: The Dreadnaughts fell behind early but rallied back. Sophomore Ryleigh Evans scored Lakeland's first goal, and Reese Hughes followed with two goals each. Senior Alissa Wills had the only assist. Lakeland's defenders, Bree Horvatin, Stella Johnson, Ellery Pierce, Val Bautista and Jillian Sebree, limited the Highlanders to two goals from Lily Borders. Bailey Dykes had two assists.

Lakeland 8 Discovery 0

Highlights: Sofia Oliver and Adrianna Olivera each scored two goals. Stella Johnson, Reese Hughes, Alissa Wills and Megan Volpe. Assists from Reese Hughes (2), Sofia Olivera, Alissa Wills, Gizelle Olmeda and Megan Volpe (2).

Lake Gibson 1, Fort Meade 0

Highlights: Madison Fletcher scored one goal and Laurel Tyer had the assist. Raven Henry had four saves.

Lakeland Christian 4, Ocala Forest 0

Highlights: Mari Carr, Carly Sabat, Kaelyn Diaz and K.J. Straub each scored one goal. Lilly Harrington ha two assists, and Ella Williams, Carr and Ori Gotauco each had one assist.

Lakeland Christian 8, Ridge Community 0

Highlights: Mari Carr scored two goals with one assist, and Kaelyn Diaz scored one goal with two assists to lead the Vikings. Maddie Lopez, KyleighAnn Wilson and Ella Williams each finished with one goal and one assist. K.J. Straub also scored, and Lily Harrington and Ori Gotauco each had an assist.

Santa Fe 8, Kathleen 0

Highlights: While the score was not in the favor of Kathleen, Addi Moye jumped in the goal after four shots in goal. She was the player of the game.

Victory 3, Davenport 0

Highlights: The Victory Storm played balanced soccer versus Champions League opponent Davenport. Alaina Fountain was stellar in goal, earning the clean sheet with multiple saves. Amber Choquette and Heather Batts defended with purpose in the midfield to aide the shut out. Gaby Figueora lobbed in a chip shot over the keeper’s head for the first goal. Addie Lemmond added a penalty kick, followed by an Abby Tattrie finish of a precision pass from Figueroa.
