Watertown Hockey: Laker varsity teams go 1-2 over the weekend
The Watertown Lakers varsity hockey teams went 1-2 in games played over the weekend in the Maas Ice Arena.
The Laker girls (1-2) broke into the win column with a 3-2 win over Oahe on Saturday and the Laker boys (1-2) lost to Sioux Falls I 7-0 on Friday and to Oahe 6-3 on Saturday.
Jaclyn Lloyd scored two goals and Kaelyn Melville one for the Laker girls. Meg Sunde, Janel Lloyd, Rylie Redlin and Rachel Skott each had assists and Emma Foisel stopped 33 shots in net.
The Lakers were scheduled to play Sunday at Mitchell.
Ashton Lee and Brylee Kafka each scored for Oahe.
The Sioux Falls Flyers I scored three goals in each of the two periods in Friday's winb over the Laker boys.
William McDonnel had two goals and two assists for the Flyers (1-0). Jorgen Kouri, Gabe Canter, Tristan Schlechter, Dominick Scholten and Maxwell Mohr also had goals. Cade Edwards also had two assists and Kouri and Mohr each one. Goalie Ryan Flanagan stopped 24 shots.
Owen McBride made 40 saves for the Lakers.
Jacob Rieffenberger, Blair Boomsma and Ethan Skott each scored for Watertown in Saturday's loss to Oahe. Mason Witt, Austin McBride, Dakota Woertink and Trey Allard notched assists.
McBride stopped 22 shots for Watertown, which visits Aberdeen on Friday and Huron on Saturday.
Jarron Beck had two goals and Ashton Griese three assists for Oahe.
