WATCH: Dont’e Thornton’s takes first catch 54-yards for a touchdown

Wide receiver Dont’e Thornton will always remember his first catch as an Oregon Duck.

The true freshman out of Baltimore scored on a 54-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown in what his first-ever touch of the football in his college career.

Oregon has high hopes for Thornton, a top 10 receiver recruit, according to most recruiting services. At 6-foot-5, Thornton is just another part of a deep receiving corps Oregon has in its arsenal.

But what was impressive about his first touchdown was that his height had nothing to do with it. Thornton was able to juke one defender and then outrun the defense with his deceptive speed, showing what kind of future this kid is going to have in Eugene.
