Before there was a DCEU or even an MCU, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced he would play DC Comics’ Black Adam in a feature film. And in July 2022, that movie will finally be up on theater screens. Not only will the Shazam! villain turned anti-hero make his debut in a solo film, but so will DC’s first-ever super team, the Justice Society of America.
At the virtual DC FanDome event, fans got their first look at the film in a special behind-the-scenes look. Johnson gave fans a sneak peek at the opening scene from

In the film, Teth-Adam emerges in the modern world after a 5,000 year exile. Empowered by the wizard Shazam, the hero of the fictional nation of Kahndaq now finds himself in an advanced world. One that is not used to his simple (and brutal) way of dealing with the bad guys. Joining him in the cast is Sarah Shahi, who plays Adrianna Tomaz. Longtime DC fans know that Tomaz becomes Teth Adam’s love interest. And eventually, the embodiment of the goddess Isis, and a hero in her own right.
