Washington State University Vancouver to honor 1,018 grads in virtual events

May 6—Washington State University Vancouver will honor 1,018 graduates Saturday in two nontraditional commencement events because of COVID-19.

The honorees include graduates from the fall 2020, and spring and summer 2021 terms. The graduates include 32 doctoral candidates, 72 master's candidates and 914 bachelor's candidates.

Because of COVID-19, the school plans to hold a virtual systemwide WSU graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. and a drive-thru celebration at the WSU Vancouver campus from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Names of the graduates at the live virtual celebration are available at vancouver.wsu.edu/commencement.

The university first canceled in-person graduation ceremonies last spring due to the pandemic, instead opting for virtual ceremonies for students across the state.

Clark College

Last month, Clark College announced it will have an in-person commencement for its Class of 2021 at Kim Christensen Field, which is the campus' men's and women's soccer facility. The ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. June 17 and will feature graduates, faculty and staff only. No guests are allowed, but the college plans to live-stream the ceremony.
