Boonsboro's Obitts and North's Fitchett voted Athletes of the Week
Boonsboro’s Ryan Obitts and North Hagerstown’s Jah’nasia Fitchett were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County Athletes of the Week for Jan. 10-15.
The voting was conducted online Monday morning through noon Thursday.
Obitts, a senior basketball player, earned the boys honor with 49.5% percent of the vote (364 votes). He had 21 points and eight rebounds in a win over Smithsburg and 12 points in a victory over Clear Spring.
Fitchett, also a senior basketball player, was the girls winner with 35.5% of the vote (228 votes). She had her best offensive week, scoring 17 points in a win over South Hagerstown after recording 10 points in a loss to Oakdale.
The other girls nominees were indoor track and field athletes Grace Ellis of Smithsburg and Joslyn Foltz of Hancock.
The other boys nominees were Williamsport wrestler Darby Bryant and North Hagerstown basketball player Azmir Scatliffe.
