TikTok is one of the most popular social media apps in the world. Chinese technology company ByteDance bought popular lip-synching app Musical.ly in 2017 for around $1 billion dollars. In late 2018, all Musical.ly accounts were absorbed into TikTok, which has approximately has over 1 billion active monthly users, according to Statista.

With an array of content niches and social media platforms, it can be challenging to figure out when to post on TikTok. Depending on your followers’ activity on the app and personal preferences, optimal posting times can differ.

Best time to post on TikTok

According to social media management tool Hootsuite, the best overall time to post on TikTok is Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST. Posting at this time would ensure the highest amount of engagement possible. Here are the best times for each day of the week according to Hootsuite:

  • Sunday: 7 p.m.

  • Monday: 1 a.m.

  • Tuesday: 12 p.m.

  • Wednesday: 10 a.m.

  • Thursday: 10 p.m.

  • Friday: 6 p.m.

  • Saturday: 2 p.m.

Another social media management tool, Sprout Social, has a different way to find the best time to post on TikTok. Sprout Social suggests using your TikTok profile’s analytics to see when they are active and, as a result, the best times to post.

How to use TikTok follower analytics

  1. Activate TikTok analytics.

  2. Click on the hamburger button and click “Creator tools.”

  3. Click on “Analytics.”

  4. Click the third category on the top, “Followers.”

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen for “Follower activity.”

  6. Switch between days and hours to see when your followers are most active on the platform.
