The Panthers and Marian headline the field at the Class 3A Washington Sectional set to tip on Feb. 1. Washington (19-2) faces Jimtown (3-17) after Marian (17-5) takes on Glenn (13-8) in first-round play.

Washington is undefeated at home this season and 4-0 versus the sectional field. The Panthers did not play Jimtown after their Northern Indiana Conference game last Friday night versus the Jimmies was canceled due to COVID protocols within the Jimtown program.

The Panthers, who earned a state runner-up finish in 2021, beat Marian 65-53 at home back on Nov. 11. Washington beat the Knights 51-42 in the sectional final last year to snap Marian's run of three straight sectional championships. Marian topped Washington 53-45 in the sectional final in 2020.

The 6-3 Maryland recruit averages 23 points a game and ranks third all-time in scoring in South Bend public school history with 1,938 career points. The Panthers also feature star junior Amiyah Reynolds, another Maryland recruit, and Purdue bound junior guard Rashunda Jones.

Penn beat Warsaw 37-26 and lost to Northridge 40-36 in regular-season play. Warsaw beat Northridge 36-28 en route to winning the NLC title at 7-0. The Tigers are 15-6 with Northridge at 18-5.
