Walking tacos and racing pigs — it's fair time!

What is a walking taco, you ask? Great question!

Hello, this is Tennessean storytelling columnist Brad Schmitt, and it's time for — squeal! — the annual Wilson County Fair. 🎉

A walking taco also is known as a taco in a bag, where they cram all the taco ingredients into (usually) a Fritos bag and give you a fork. It's among fair culinary delicacies that rank right up there with funnel cakes, fried Oreos or, well, anything edible on a stick.

Some folks don't just go for the food. There are rides and birthing barns and concerts and all sorts of exhibits, and it all starts tonight! The Wilson County Fair is so dang good that they combined it two years ago with the Tennessee State Fair that used to be held in Nashville.

And yes, I said "birthing barns." You can see quail, horses, goats and more give birth live (ew??) at the fair. Despite my quasi-queasiness, this seems to be popular with the people, so popular that the live streams of these births draw millions of views each year.
