Vote for Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week

As we near the end of the first month of the fall sports season, there are quite a few Mid-Valley athletes giving big-time performances.

Here are this week’s nominees for Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week.

  • Jackson Pfeifer, Silverton football

  • Sarah Jones, Sprague volleyball

  • Nelida Dalgas, North Salem cross country

  • Tini Tinitali, South Salem football

There is information below on each nominee. Vote for the athlete you think is most deserving. The poll closes at noon Thursday.

Jackson Pfeifer, Silverton football: He rushed for 240 yards and six touchdowns for the Foxes against Central.

Sarah Jones, Sprague volleyball: In the recent Sprague tournament, she had seven aces, nine assists and 37 digs. She also has strong performances against South Salem (two aces, six assists, 13 digs), North Salem (five aces, nine digs) and West Salem (two aces, 15 digs).

Nelida Dalgas, North Salem: The freshman ran an 18:59 at the Ash Creek XC Festival on Sept. 10. She currently ranks second in the Central Valley Conference.

Tini Tinitali III, South Salem football: He had two interceptions and six tackles on defense, and he had four catches for 54 yards and a touchdown on offense for the Saxons against Grants Pass.
