Receiving more than 45 percent of this week's fan vote, South Brunswick's Ford Disbrow is the winner of the latest StarNews Athlete of the Week Poll.

Disbrow averaged 12 points across two games this week and sank the game-winner Wednesday night in a tight 38-36 overtime win over Ashley. The Cougars also beat North Brunswick 53-50 Tuesday.

Here are this week's other nominees for Athlete of the Week.

Andrehya Shuford, New Hanover girls basketball: Shuford drilled seven three-pointers and poured home 33 points Tuesday before scoring 20 Wednesday as the Wildcats went 2-0 this week with victories over West Brunswick and Coastal Christian.

Bradley Bush, Hoggard boys swimming and diving: Bush had another excellent showing Thursday night, finishing first in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke at the New Hanover County Championships. Bush also helped Hoggard win the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays as the Vikings won the team competitions.

Noah Piper, Ashley wrestling: Piper hung on for a tight 7-6 minor decision victory in the 113-pound weight class against North Brunswick Thursday. The Screaming Eagles continued their winning ways with a 46-27 victory over the Scorpions.
