Winner of The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Jan. 30 to Feb. 4)

Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Athlete of the Week (Jan. 30 to Feb. 4) in basketball and other winter sports. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Sienna Stoner, Curtis bowling

Stoner led the Vikings with a six-game individual score of 1,139, earning a second-place finish at the 4A state tournament. Curtis also won the 4A team title.

Voting will remain open until noon Wednesday.

Luke Brewer, Tumwater boys basketball — Scored a game-high 18 points, and added four rebounds, two assists and five steals in a win over rival Black Hills to complete the T-Birds’ undefeated 2A EvCo title.

Brendon Brown, Chief Leschi boys basketball — Scored a game-high 26 points in a 2B Pacific title-clinching win over Ilwaco.

Angie Cavanaugh, Tahoma girls basketball — Scored eight points and added eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in a win over Federal Way, had 24 points, three rebounds and two assists in a win over Decatur and 15 points and three assists in a win over Mount Rainier for the Bears’ undefeated 4A NPSL title team.

Olivia Collins, Sumner girls basketball — Scored a game-high 18 points in a win over Rogers and 10 points, including the game-winning shot for the Spartans in their 4A SPSL tournament championship win over Emerald Ridge.

Zoom Diallo, Curtis boys basketball — Scored a game-high 22 points in a win over Emerald Ridge, a game-high 19 points in a win over Bellarmine Prep, and a game-high 21 points in the Vikings’ 4A SPSL tournament championship win over Olympia.

Andreas Engholm, Olympia boys basketball — Scored 12 points in a win over Puyallup, a game-high 18 points in a win over Sumner, and added 10 points and eight rebounds in the Bears’ 4A SPSL tournament championship loss to Curtis.

Parker Gerrits, Olympia boys basketball — Scored a game-high 16 points in a win over Puyallup, had 14 points in a win over Sumner and a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds in the Bears’ 4A SPSL tournament championship loss to Curtis.

Darrell Gipson, Timberline boys basketball — Scored 27 points and added three rebounds and three assists in a win over Peninsula, and had 27 points, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a win over rival North Thurston for the Blazers’ undefeated 3A SSC title team.

Hope Hassman, Tahoma girls basketball — Scored 22 points and added two rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Federal Way, had 11 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and three steals in a win over Decatur and 25 points, two rebounds, nine assists and two steals in a win over Mount Rainier for the Bears’ undefeated 4A NPSL title team.

Kaylia Heidelberg, Peninsula girls basketball — Scored a game-high 23 points and added five rebounds,two assists and three steals in a win over Timberline, and had 14 points and four rebounds in a win over rival Gig Harbor.

Brooklyn Hicks, Timberline boys basketball — Posted a double-double with 31 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals in a win over Peninsula, and had a game-high 42 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in a win over rival North Thurston for the Blazers’ undefeated 3A SSC title team.

Lainee Houillon, Sumner girls basketball — Scored 17 points in a win over Rogers, 18 points in a win over Olympia and a game-high 24 points in the Spartans’ 4A SPSL tournament championship win over Emerald Ridge.

Will Landram, Gig Harbor boys basketball — Scored a game-high 34 points in a win over North Thurston and a game-high 24 points in a win over rival Peninsula.

Megan Lelli, Curtis bowling — Posted a six-game individual score of 1,133 to finish tied for third at the 4A state tournament. Curtis also won the 4A team title.

Soraya Ogaldez, North Thurston girls basketball — Scored a game-high 32 points and added five rebounds and four steals in a win over Gig Harbor, and had a game-high 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in a win over rival Timberline.

Jaylen Petty, Auburn boys basketball — Scored a game-high 18 points in a win over Auburn Mountainview.

Noah Seabrands, Enumclaw boys basketball — Scored a game-high 22 points in a win over Franklin Pierce.

Naomi Senato, Emerald Ridge girls basketball — Scored a team-high 14 points in the Jaguars’ 4A SPSL tournament championship loss to Sumner.

Sienna Stoner, Curtis bowling — Led the Vikings with a six-game individual score of 1,139, earning a second-place finish at the 4A state tournament. Curtis also won the 4A team title.

Kylie Waltermeyer, Tumwater girls basketball — Scored a game-high 21 points — on a single-game school record seven 3-pointers — in a win over rival Black Hills.

Devin Whitten, Curtis boys basketball — Scored 19 points in a win over Emerald Ridge, eight points in a win over Bellarmine Prep and 13 in the Vikings’ 4A SPSL tournament win over Olympia.

Tamia Yeager, Spanaway Lake bowling — Posted a six-game individual score of 1,128, earning a third-place finish at the 3A state tournament. Spanaway Lake also finished fourth as a team.

Brooke Zimmerman, Peninsula girls basketball — Posted a double-double with 17 points, 19 rebounds, three assists and four steals in a win over Timberline, and scored a game-high 15 points and added 13 rebounds, two assists and four steals in a win over rival Gig Harbor.
