Meet the nominees for the News & Observer’s high school athlete of the week. Readers can vote as often as they like until Saturday, around noon, when the poll will close.

Jordan Barker, Jordan basketball: The 5-foot-7 junior scored 28 points, had five assists and three steals to lead Jordan to a 75-27 win over Northern Durham Jan. 19.

Barker is averaging 20.1 points per game for a Jordan team (4-11) that has won three of its last four games through Sunday.

Jake Chisolm, Durham Academy basketball: The 6-foot-1 junior had 31 points and nine rebounds to lead Durham Academy to a 69-63, overtime win over North Raleigh Christian Jan. 18.

Chisolm is averaging 18.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for Durham Academy (5-10).

Trey Fields, Cleveland basketball: The 6-foot-6 senior had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in an 83-53 victory at Corinth Holders Jan. 17.

The next night, he had 22 points, six rebounds and three assists to help the Rams to a 79-41 win at Willow Creek.

Fields is averaging 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds for a Cleveland team (16-1) that has won 13 straight games through Sunday.

Nathan Fife, Sanderson basketball: The 6-foot freshman had 26 points, including six three pointers, to lead Sanderson to a 68-65 overtime victory at Enloe Jan. 19.

Fife is averaging 14 points per game for Sanderson (7-9) this season.

Dorian Hillard, Hillside basketball: The 6-foot senior doubled his season average with 26 points, including four three-pointers, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Hillside to a 55-37 win at Chapel Hill Jan. 19.

Hillard is averaging 12.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for Hillside (9-2).

Jerni Kiaku, Garner basketball: The 5-foot-7 senior scored 34 points, had five rebounds, four steals and three assists to lead Garner to a 59-46 victory over Southeast Raleigh Jan. 18.

Kiaku, a N.C. Central University commit, is averaging 23.6 points, 4.9 assists and 4.1 steals for a Garner team (13-2) that has won five consecutive games through Sunday

Jack Liddicoat, Durham Academy swimming: The Cavaliers’ senior improved his times in two different events dramatically to help Durham Academy beat Seaforth High, Trinity Academy and Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill, while losing to Cary Academy at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary Jan. 19.

Liddicoat swam a 2:12.94 to finish ninth-place in the 200 freestyle, 15 seconds faster than his previous best to qualify for the state meet.

He also finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.11, six seconds better than his previous best, also qualifying for the state meet.

Liddicoat also helped the Cavaliers’ 200 freestyle relay to a fourth-place finish and the 400 freestyle relay to a fifth-place finish at the same meet.

Samuel Martin, Apex basketball: The 6-foot-9 junior had 25 points, 14 rebounds, six blocks, four assists and one steal to lead Apex to an 83-69 win at Green Hope Jan. 18.

Martin, who had five dunks in the win,, is averaging 19.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 6.6 blocks and 3.8 assists over the last five games for Apex (10-7).

Indya Nivar, Apex Friendship basketball: The 5-foot-10 senior averaged 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and 4.5 steals per game in wins over Green Hope and Green Level.

Nivar had 20 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 68-46 win over Green Level Jan. 18.

She also had 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 84-22 victory over Green Hope Jan. 20.

Nivar, a Stanford University commit, is averaging 18.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.1 steals for an Apex Friendship team (16-1) that has won eight straight games through Sunday.

Precious Ogboko, Durham School of the Arts basketball: The 6-foot-3 senior had 25 points, 14 rebounds and three steals to lead Durham School of the Arts to a 61-54, overtime victory at Seaforth Jan. 19.

Ogboko is averaging 18.7 points and 17.5 rebounds per game for Durham School of the Arts (8-5).

Nathan Purvis, Thales Academy Apex basketball: The 5-foot-11 sophomore scored a career-high 36 points to lead the Titans to a 71-34 win at St. Thomas More Academy, Jan. 18.

Purvis is averaging 23.4 points per game for Thales Academy Apex (5-7).
