Here are the nominees for The Charlotte Observer’s girls high school athlete of the week.

Readers can vote as often as they want in the polls until Friday.

This week’s nominees

Brooke Aeschliman, South Iredell volleyball: The Vikings’ junior outside hitter had 12 kills, four aces and eight digs in a 3-0 win at West Cabarrus Sept. 22.

The previous day, Aeschliman had 14 kills, 18 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 loss at Cox Mill.

Aeschliman has 198 kills, 146 digs, 26 aces and 20 blocks for South Iredell (8-7) through Sunday.

Anne Bradley Bing, Gaston Day volleyball: The Spartans’ sophomore outside hitter had 35 kills, 35 digs, five aces, four assists and 25 service receptions in a 3-0 win over rival Gaston Christian Sept. 20.

Gaston Day (7-19) also lost to Asheville Christian 3-0 Sept. 23.

Kasey Dingman, Lake Norman: The Wildcats’ freshman ran a 18:31.25 to win the Hough Invitational individually at Fisher Farms’ Park in Davidson Sept. 24.

Dingman, who won the race by nine seconds, helped the Hough girls’ cross country team to a third-place finish.

Dingman ran a personal-best time of 17:59 at the Adidas Challenge in Cary Sept. 24.

Julia Hunter, Mallard Creek cross-country: The Mavericks’ junior won the 5K race at a Mallard Creek home meet against Berry, Garinger, Independence, Julius Chambers, and North Mecklenburg, beating the field by 1:11 Sept. 20th.

Hunter also ran a personal-best 21:19.30 at the Adidas Challenge in Cary Sept. 17.

Charlie Meadoweal, Palisades volleyball: The Pumas’ junior outside hitter/setter had 15 kills, 22 digs and 13 assist to lead Palisades to a 3-2 win at Ardrey Kell Sept. 23.

She also had 10 kills, four aces, 11 digs and 14 assists in a 3-0 victory over South Point Sept. 21.

Meadoweal had 17 kills, nine digs and 11 assists in a 3-2 loss at South Point Sept. 20.

Palisades is 11-4 overall through Sunday

Taylor Parker, Hickory Grove volleyball: The Lions’ senior had 24 kills, six digs, two aces and two blocks in a 3-0 victory over Gaston Christian Sept. 19.

The next day, Parker had 25 kills, 13 digs, two aces and two blocks in a 3-2 loss at Metrolina Christian.

Parker finished off her week with 14 kills, three digs, two aces and two blocks in a 3-0 sweep at Westminster Catawba.

Parker has 266 kills, 148 digs, 32 blocks and 23 aces for Hickory Grove (9-8) through Sunday.

Ella Pasko, Marvin Ridge cross-country: The Mavericks’ junior ran a personal-best 18:40.82 to finish as runner-up at the Hough Invitational at Fisher Farms’ Park in Davidson Sept. 24.

Pasko’s run also helped the Marvin Ridge girls’ cross country team to a 32-point victory at the same event.

Meg Tebbens, Charlotte Catholic field hockey: The Cougars’ freshman scored four goals and had four assists at Charlotte Catholic be Ardrey Kell, Charlotte Latin and Weddington.

Tebbens had a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over Ardrey Kell Sept. 19.

She also had an assist in a 1-0 victory over Charlotte Latin Sept. 21.

Tebbens finished off the week with three goals and one assist in a 4-0 win at Weddington Sept. 22.

Tebbens has 11 goals and six assists for Charlotte Catholic (5-4) through Sunday.

Hannah Waddell, East Rowan golf: The Mustangs’ junior shot a 3-over-par 38 to earn medalist honors at a South Piedmont conference match at Warrior Golf Club Sept. 19.

Waddell, who is averaging a 41.4 per nine holes, has won medalist honors in six of the seven matches she has played in this season.

Meah Walsh, East Burke cross-country: The Cavaliers’ senior ran a 22:01.81 to win the Wolves’ XC 5K at Lincolnton High Sept. 19.

Walsh’s efforts also helped the East Burke girls’ cross country team to victory at the same event.

Walsh also won the 5K race at the Friday Night Lights’ Cross Country Festival in Kernersville Sept. 9.

Rachel Wang, Cuthbertson golf: The Cavaliers’ junior shot a 1-over-par 36 to finish third in a Southern Carolinas’ conference match at Emerald Lake Golf Club Sept. 20.

Wang, who is averaging a 44.2 per nine holes this season, helped the Cavaliers’ girls’ golf team to a runner-up finish at the same SCC meet.
