Have you always wanted to sing the national anthem before a Pirates’ Grapefruit League game at sun-splashed LECOM Park?

Here’s your chance.

Individuals – or choirs – interested in performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” or “O Canada” should email a video or YouTube link of them singing the anthem a cappella to Marketing Manager Rebekah Rivette at rebekah.rivette@pirates.com.

Deadline is Feb. 18th.

Singers not selected will have their information kept on file for the Bradenton Marauders season.

• Good luck to Matt Ennis, the State College of Florida athletic director the last 11 years and now new executive director and chaplain for Anchor House, Inc., a ministry for ship workers at Port Manatee.

Ennis spent 17 years with SCF athletics and was recognized as the 2021 Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Michele Puls, the assistant director of athletics and student activities, will be SCF’s acting AD.

• And Southeast High attendance secretary Joyce Galla has retired after more than 24 years with the Manatee School District.

• Charge Paramedic/Field Training Officer Gary Masengale is Manatee County EMS Employee of the Month for January.

• Well done to Manatee Charter School Principal Bonnie Brett, a recipient of a Florida TaxWatch’s ninth annual Principal Leadership Award. The nonprofit government watchdog’s awards recognize highly effective principals in high-risk, K-12 public schools.

• And that’s two years of wedded bliss for Victoria and Daniel Plummer.

• A salute to Lt. Barry Overstreet, Sgt. Sam Levita and Deputies Johnny Simpson, Kris Townsley, Alma Reyes, Gloria Rico and Greg Washington for 25 years with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. And to Detective John Proll and Public Safety Telecommunicator Theresa Talbot for 20 years.
