May 14—The Barr-Reeve Lady Vikings used a combination of solid pitching from Emma Davis and Karlye Graber to hold Washington to just two base runners in a 10-0 win. The pair combined for nine strikeouts and gave up just one hit at the Washington Sports Complex on Thursday.

B-R did most of its scoring in the first two innings, using a combination of 11 hits, big doubles and taking advantage of errors in their five-inning win.

"I know Washington is down this year, but they've got some help coming up to the grades next year. I said we wanted to play everybody tonight. And we pretty well that got done which is what we came here to do. And we also got the W," said B-R coach Mike Jones. "Lexi, she's got something to look forward to next year as she gets some good players coming in. So, but, like I said, we hit the ball well in spots when we needed to."

The Vikings posted three runs right off the bat as Hannah Graber reached on an error, Brooklyn Jones added a single and Emma Davis blasted a double to the fence scoring two, followed by Grace Butcher driving in Davis, giving the Vikes a 3-0 lead after the first half frame.

WHS did get Allison Hill as far as third base in the Hatchet half of the inning, but did not score.

The Vikes added a run in the second after Hannah Graber blasted a single followed by a single from Corrine Corbin scoring Graber. Jones was hit by a pitch, followed by Emma Davis' second double, scoring two. Jones, Davis and Butcher also scored after hits from Addi Ainscough and Karlye Graber, making it 8-0 after two.

Karley Graber took over in the circle for B-R on to start the bottom of the third for the Vikings and quickly got a pair of Ks, while WHS brought in Hill in the fifth.

"Allison Hill came in got some rhythm as the later innings. She came in for Kaitlyn Hill and pitched strikes, that's all we really needed," said coach Lexi Lemon. "We had four errors in the first thing and then we had two or three more in the second inning. We just can't do that with a good tea and expect to win."

WHS got its first hit in the bottom of the fourth from Katelyn Mason who reached second but did not score.

The Vikes added two more runs with Tracy Stoll and Willow Thompson scoring to make it 10-0 after the top of the fifth.

The Hatchets travel to Princeton on Saturday and also play Gibson Southern that same day. B-R will play Loogootee on Saturday.
