View renderings of FSU’s football operations center
Florida State has released updated renderings of its proposed football operations center.
The 150,000 square-foot facility will be next to the indoor practice facility and practice fields. Initial plans for the building were announced in the fall of 2018 as part of a large fundraising campaign, with the goal of opening it in July 2021. An updated timeline has not yet been announced. The Seminoles said Wednesday that they’ve already raised more than $43 million toward this project.
“We are receiving a great response from our benefactors, including many commitments to the new football facility project,” Seminole Boosters President and CEO Michael Alford said in a statement. “In our discussions, they are excited about the vision and direction of the athletic department and Seminole Boosters.”
Private fundraising continues through the boosters, and FSU said it will supplement those funds with new revenue coming from proposed changes to Doak Campbell Stadium.
“The new home for our football program will allow us to expand the spaces in the Moore Athletic Center for academic services, sports medicine, dining, and strength and conditioning that are shared by all our sports,” athletic director David Coburn said in a statement. “It will be a dramatic improvement for all our support efforts, which has a direct impact on the experience of our world-class student-athletes.”
The football complex will include 13 position meeting rooms, a locker room, a recruiting lounge, office space, a strength training and weight room center, a virtual reality area and nutrition stations, among other features.
The initial plans for the facility carried a $60 million price tag for a 122,000 square-foot building.
