Veterans Memorial girls place ninth at UIL state golf tournament

The Veterans Memorial girls golf team concluded the program's first UIL Class 5A state tournament appearance with a ninth place finish on Tuesday at White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.

The Eagles shot a two-day score of 696 — carding a 347 on Monday and a 349 in the final round.

Kieli Saenz led Vets with a two-day score of 166 after shooting an 83 in both rounds.

Viviana Farias (172); Anissa Farias (179); Cassandra Buemio (184) and Samantha Buemio (188) rounded out the rest of the scoring for the Eagles.

Argyle won the state championship with a 620, followed by Midlothian Heritage (636) and Andrews (658).

Class 4A

Rockport-Fulton's Hannah Creekmore turned in a two-day score of 171 to finish 22nd at the UIL Class 4A state golf tournament at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

Creekmore's lowest round came on Monday when she carded an 84.
