FRIDAY'S GAME

Vermont 78, Ball State 73

V: Aaron Deloney 20 points, 7 rebounds. Kam Gibson 19 points. Dylan Penn 14 points. Matt Veretto 9 points.

B: Jaylin Sellers 21 point. Jalen Windam 12 points. Payton Sparks 11 points. Jarron Coleman 10 points.

Note: The Catamounts halted five-game losing skid, their longest since the 2013-14 season, with a strong shooting effort vs. Ball State. UVM shot 60.9% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes (14 of 23) and out-rebounded Ball State 34-30. Paced by Deloney, UVM also had a 33-10 advantage in bench points. ... Tied at 41 early in the second half, UVM uncorked a 9-0 spurt on a trio of 3-pointers from Nick Fiorillo, Gibson and Deloney to seize a lead that wouldn't drop below four points the rest of the way.

SATURDAY'S GAME

North Carolina-Wilmington 68, Vermont 66

V: Dylan Penn 21 points. Robin Duncan 13 points, 9 rebounds. Finn Sullivan 11 points.

UNC-W: Shyke Phillips 22 points. Trazaire White 10 points. Amari Kelly 9 points. Donovan Newby 8 points.

Note: The Catamounts (2-6) led by as many as 14 points with 12:20 minutes to play in regulation but saw Wilmington storm back to book a spot in Sunday's championship game of the Nassau championship division. After the second-half rally to get back into the game, Wilmington used a 6-0 spurt for a 61-55 advantage with 3:44 to play, and then held on for the win.

SUNDAY'S GAME

Long Beach State 78, Vermont 58

V: Kam Gibson 10 points. TJ Hurley 10 points. Sam Alamutu 8 points.

LB: Marcus Tsohonis 23 points. Joel Murray 20 points. Tone Hunter 11 points.

Note: In the consolation game, Long Beach State opened on a 15-3 spurt over the first 8-plus minutes. UVM (2-7) responded with a 10-2 run, but Long Beach State used a 11-2 spurt to close the half for a 41-27 intermission lead. The margin grew to 20 points at 66-46 with 7:36 to go in regulation. Former Rice Memorial standout Michel Ndayishimiye scored his first career points on a three-point play. ... Long Beach State shot 55.9% from the field to UVM's 35.8% clip. Long Beach also control the boards (37-26), points in the paint (44-22) and never trailed in the contest. ... UVM returns home to play D-III NVU Lyndon on Thursday.
