Canucks sign Brock Boeser to three-year deal

The dominos continue to fall after Mitch Marner re-signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs last weekend.

Travis Konecny inked a six-year, $33 million deal with the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday afternoon. Later the same day, the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser came to a three-year agreement with the NHL regular season just over two weeks away.

According to the team’s official Twitter account, the average annual value of the contract is $5.875 million.

“We're very pleased to have Brock re-sign,” said Vancouver’s general manager Jim Benning, according to the official release put out by the Canucks about the deal. “He's a talented player, a key contributor to our offence and an important part of our team's future. We look forward to having Brock join the team in preparation for the upcoming season.”

The team’s first-round pick in the 2015 draft, Boeser is coming off a solid campaign where he netted 26 goals and collected a career-high 56 points in 69 regular season contests.

He becomes the second-highest paid forward on the team. Loui Eriksson will make $6 million for the next three years.

Boeser shared his excitement to be back in the fold on Instagram shortly after the deal became official.

And with that, the list of unsigned restricted free agents shrinks further. Some of the notable names that remain without a deal are Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk, Winnipeg’s Patrik Laine and Kyle Connor, Tampa Bay’s Brayden Point and Colorado’s Mikko Rantanen.
