Valley View couple gets second dose from LVH-Schuylkill

Mar. 6—After worrying for weeks that they might not receive the second dose of their COVID-19 vaccine in time, Ann and Peter Schiliro got a call Thursday morning offering them shots at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill.

Ann Schiliro, 82, of Valley View, and her husband got their first dose from Valley View Family Practice Center on Jan. 26, but their second dose appointment had been postponed due to low vaccine supply.

Schiliro said an employee from Lehigh Valley called her Thursday morning after reading about Schiliro's fears of missing the 42-day window to receive her second dose. Schiliro and her husband were both able to get their second dose that same day.

"I was just shocked," Schiliro said. "That goes to show you that some people do care. It gives me more faith in humanity."

Schiliro said she hopes that sharing her experience will help others who are waiting for their second dose.

"I would love to see something good happen," Schiliro said. "If I can make just a tiny bit of a difference, that would make me feel like I accomplished something in this world."
