Vaccines remain in short supply locally

Mar. 2—The Pennsylvania Department of Health updated its list of COVID-19 vaccine providers on Wednesday but noted that the supplies expected this week could be delayed.

The department blamed the delays on the severe weather events of two weeks ago.

"The DOH has no control over the actual shipment times and deliveries to providers," according to the department's website.

At Geisinger, first-dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments are temporarily unavailable. Lehigh Valley Health Network also recently noted that there "may be times when LVHN does not have the supply needed to schedule more COVID-19 vaccination appointments."

St. Luke's Health Network asked for the public's patience as it works to provide the limited supply of vaccine.

In explaining the delays, the department noted "nationwide winter weather emergencies" prohibited vaccine shipments from reaching providers. The department and Centers for Disease Controls notified providers of those delays.

Those who had scheduled appointments may receive calls from their providers asking them to reschedule.

Individuals seeking vaccinations are encouraged to contact providers directly to see if any appointments are available.
