UW-Oshkosh, Fox Valley Technical College announce partnership for transfer students

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in Oshkosh, Wis.

OSHKOSH – A new partnership between Fox Valley Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh provides a new pathway for transfer students to earn a bachelor's degree.

The UW System Board of Regents approved a new agreement Friday where students can earn a liberal arts transfer associate degree at FVTC and be eligible to transfer into a four-year program at UW-Oshkosh as a junior.

"This increases the educational opportunities and pathways for students in our region to complete a four-year degree at UWO," John Koker, UW-Oshkosh provost, said. "Offering additional pathways to a bachelor's degree, especially to nontraditional and returning adult students, is central to the mission of the university."

This move comes as more students are seeking a four-year degree after studying at FVTC. Nearly 7% of students enrolled during the 2020-21 school year went on to study at a four-year college, according to Jennifer Lanter, interim chief academic officer at FVTC.

FVTC will offer associate of arts and associate of science degrees that will meet the requirements for general education classes at UWO.

In all, the Board of Regents approved liberal arts transfer associate degrees at eight Wisconsin technical colleges: Blackhawk Technical College, Lakeshore Technical College, Mid-State Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Waukesha Technical College and Western Technical College.

Transfer agreements are in the works between Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Moraine Park Technical College and Lakeshore Technical College and UW-Oshkosh.
