Notre Dame and Southern California, two of college football’s most storied programs, are set to renew their long-standing rivalry this weekend.

This series that dates back to 1926 and was contested every year from 1946 through 2019 is widely regarded as the sport’s biggest and best-known intersectional annual showdown. Unfortunately, the Fighting Irish and Trojans were unable to meet in 2020 during the pandemic season in which the Pac-12 played a limited, conference-only schedule.

Notre Dame enters this year’s clash with the No. 13 ranking and major bowl aspirations, while USC has a disappointing 3-3 record coming in and is currently under the direction of interim coach Donte Williams. The Fighting Irish have won the last three in the series, though the last two were decided by a touchdown or less.
