USC QB draws comparison to Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow went down as one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time before he was selected first overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now, there’s a USC signal-caller who is drawing comparisons to the LSU legend.

Mike Renner of Pro Football Focus recently compared Kedon Slovis’ accuracy level to that of Burrow.

“Over the last two seasons, there’s Joe Burrow and then there’s Kedon Slovis,” he said.

This is a compliment regardless for a college quarterback, but it goes farther than just that level of play.

Unlike so many other LSU quarterbacks who have gone on to the league, Burrow’s success has translated to the NFL up to this point. He put together a solid Rookie of the Year campaign before he was sidelined back in November against the Washington Football team.

Burrow sustained a severe injury to his left knee in the second half that required reconstructive surgery and that he’s still in the process of recovering from.

He finished out his LSU career with a 68.5% completion percentage, 8,565 passing yards, 76 touchdowns and 11 interceptions — winning the Heisman Trophy and leading his team to a national championship title to cap off an undefeated season.

Burrow’s final stat line for his rookie year was a completion percentage of 65.3%, 2,688 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions.

If Slovis ends up being anything like Burrow, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with both this year and in seasons to come in the pros.
