Is Upper Arlington really Ohio's priciest suburb? That's what Travel + Leisure says
Upper Arlington is the most expensive suburb in Ohio, according to a list posted Sunday in Travel + Leisure magazine.
Homes in the Columbus suburb had a median sale price in March of $543,950, the article said. It indicated that it used data from Zillow and Redfin in its analysis of pricy real estate in each state.
The publication did not explain the exact methodology for how it came up with the list, and the author could not be reached immediately for comment.
But according to Zillow, other Ohio suburbs have far higher home values than Upper Arlington, including Marble Cliff, where the average home is worth $810,722.
Other pricey Ohio suburbs, according to Zillow, include Hunting Valley, near Cleveland, with an average home value of $1,404,767; the Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hill ($1,361,970); and the Northeast Ohio communities of Bentleyville ($763,272) and Kirkland Hills ($648,164).
By contrast, the median home value in Upper Arlington, a predominantly white Columbus suburb of more than 36,000 people, is $575,545, compared to $233,037 for Columbus, according to Zillow.

The median household income between 2016 and 2020 was $124,688 in Upper Arlington, compared to $54,902 in Columbus, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
It's a far cry from from the most expensive suburb in the country, at least according to Travel + Leisure.
"When it comes to the priciest suburb, the undisputed winner is the beachfront enclave of Montecito, California, where the median sale price this March was more than $5 million," the article stated.
