Nov. 30—The UND University Band and the Northern Plains Brass will present "Sounds of the Season! A Holiday Concert" at 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 2, at the UND Memorial Union Ballroom.

The free concert will feature the ensembles performing unique settings of holiday favorites, said James Popejoy, professor of music and director of bands at UND.

The members of the Northern Plains Brass, a regional brass quintet, are Dave Christianson, Cory Driscoll, Tyler York, Nick Hagen and Mark Lentz. They will perform arrangements of "The Christmas Song," "Go Tell It On The Mountain," "Christmas Time is Here" and "Let It Snow!"

The UND University Band, conducted by Popejoy, will perform "Snow Day Celebration!," "Ode to Greensleeves" and Alfred Reed's classic setting of "Russian Christmas Music."

An undergraduate student conductor, Zachary Fischer, will lead the band in "Sparkling Lights," by Matt Conway. Graduate student conductor Juanita Caballero will present a beautiful arrangement of "On a Catalonian Carol," by Randall Standridge, Popejoy said.

The two ensembles will combine to close the program with performances of "A Jazzy Christmas" and Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride."
