UND running back Otis Weah enters the transfer portal

Nov. 30—The UND football team's star running back appears to be on his way out.

Fighting Hawks junior running back Otis Weah has entered the transfer portal.

Weah, a junior who missed two games this season, led UND with 159 carries for 818 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged more than 5.0 yards per carry for the second-straight season.

Weah's tenure in Grand Forks has been a roller-coaster. The former Moorhead Spuds standout redshirted in 2018, then was academically ineligible in 2019.

Weah then broke out for an All-American season in UND's run to the FCS quarterfinals in the spring of 2021. In the spring, he led the team and conference in rushing yards (730), yards per carry (7.16), rushing touchdowns (9) and yards per game (104.3).

Weah missed one game (Drake) this season due to suspension. He was ruled out for illness against Southern Illinois.

After finishing 5-6 this season, UND has seen some players announce transfer decisions including cornerbacks Sam Robertson and Caleb Nelson, linebacker Quinton Urwiler, defensive end Quintin Seguin and tight end Billy Riviere.

Seguin was a senior starter, while Robertson, Nelson and Urwiler also saw playing time as backups. Riviere was primarily a blocking tight end, starting in some games depending on formations.
