Ukrainian delegation to ask Biden for ATACMS missiles, advanced drones – Politico

While the Biden administration has pledged to continue to support Kyiv in its efforts to fight Russian invasion forces, U.S. officials have resisted providing any resources that would allow Ukrainians to launch long-range missiles into Russia, the publication writes.

According to Politico, the administration has refused to send ATACMS to Ukraine. U.S. officials suggest that sending long-range missiles could provoke Russian President Vladimir Putin to use even more deadly weapons in Ukraine.

The newspaper also notes that the new package of military aid from the United States, which will be announced by President Biden, will for the first time include Patriot air defense systems and Joint Direct Attack Munition kits, which turn unguided fighter bombs into precision munitions.
The package also includes artillery and other ammunition worth $850 million.
The total value of the military aid package for Ukraine stands at almost $2billion.
On Dec. 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he will go on an official visit to the United States, during which he will meet with Biden, address Congress and hold a series of bilateral meetings.
