UFC targets Max Griffin vs. Tim Means for Oct. 29 event

Welterweight fan favorites will throw down in October.

Max Griffin (18-9 MMA, 6-7 UFC) vs. Tim Means (32-13-1 MMA, 14-10 UFC) is in the works for a UFC Fight Night event Oct. 29 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Griffin is coming off a split decision loss to perennial contender Neil Magny at UFC on ESPN 33 in March. Prior to that, the California native scored three straight wins over Ramiz Brahimaj, Song Kenan and former interim champion Carlos Condit.

Means also recently saw his winning streak snapped. After notching wins over Laureano Staropoli, Mike Perry and Nicolas Dalby, “The Dirty Bird” was submitted by Kevin Holland at UFC on ESPN 37 in June.

With the addition, the latest lineup for the UFC’s Oct. 29 card now includes:

  • Edson Barboza vs. Ilia Topuria

  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima

  • Steve Garcia vs. Chase Hooper

  • Dustin Jacoby vs. Khalil Rountree

  • Joseph Holmes vs. Junyong Park

  • Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs. Jared Vanderaa

  • Roman Dolidze vs. Phil Hawes

  • Max Griffin vs. Tim Means
