UConn women announce non-conference game at Tennessee

Aug. 12—The UConn women's basketball team announced its final non-conference opponent for the 2022-23 season Thursday afternoon, and it's a foe the Huskies are very familiar with.

The Huskies will play the Tennessee Lady Vols Jan. 26 at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Game time and broadcast information will be announced.

It will be the 26th meeting between the teams. UConn holds a 16-9 edge in the series, including wins in the 1995, 2000, 2003, and 2004 national championship games.

The Huskies have won all three games since the teams resumed playing in the 2019-20 season following a 13-year hiatus.

Last season, Azzi Fudd scored a then season-high 25 points in a 75-56 win Feb. 6 at the XL Center in Hartford.

UConn previously announced non-conference home games against Northeastern, Texas, N.C. State, Princeton, and South Carolina, along with road games at Notre Dame and Maryland.

The Huskies also will play two games in Portland, Oregon, Thanksgiving weekend in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament (Nov. 25 vs. Duke and Nov. 27 vs. Iowa or Oregon State) and one at Mohegan Sun Arena vs. Florida State Dec. 18 in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase.

UConn welcomes Division II Kutztown University for an exhibition game Nov. 6 before opening the regular against Northeastern Nov. 10.
