UCLA is offering season ticket holders four free extra tickets for Oklahoma game

UCLA wants to make sure the Rose Bowl is full during Saturday’s game against Oklahoma.

The No. 5 Sooners travel to Los Angeles to visit the winless Bruins in Week 3. And UCLA is giving season ticket holders four extra tickets for the game. A spokesperson for UCLA confirmed to Yahoo Sports that the screenshot of the email below is real.

“To show our appreciation for your loyalty and commitment to UCLA Football, we would like to offer you four additional complimentary tickets to this Saturday’s home game against the No. 5 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. These tickets will be accessible via your UCLA Athletics account no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday. While the tickets, valued at $280, will not be located immediately next to your current seats, you will have the ability to forward them to any family member, friend or colleague of your choice.”

“This is a small token of appreciation from our department for your continued support as we continue to work every day to build a successful football program.”

UCLA, a team stacked with freshmen and sophomores in coach Chip Kelly’s second season, lost at home to San Diego State in Week 2 after losing on the road at Cincinnati to start the season. The attendance at the San Diego State game was, uh, less than stellar as you can see in the picture above.

So it’s obvious why UCLA wants the Rose Bowl to be full of Bruin fans against the Sooners. And why it’s willing to go to free ticket lengths to do so. It’s better to have a full stadium that has a large portion of fans who got in for free than it is to have an empty stadium, right?

There just may be slightly more pressure on Kelly to get the team winning sooner rather than later. You can bet the UCLA ticket department doesn’t want to start offering free tickets to fans on even a semi-regular basis.
