U.S. Customs and Border Protection to host Global Entry enrollment event in Grand Forks in November

Oct. 19—U.S. Customs and Border Protection will host a Global Entry enrollment event at the Grand Forks Airport CBP Office on Nov. 17.

At this event, CBP will conduct interviews for conditionally approved Global Entry applicants. Anyone who wants to apply to the program in time to be interviewed at the event should begin the application process immediately through the Global Online Enrollment System, according to a release from CBP.

The Global Entry program allows pre-approved, low-risk international travelers expedited entry back into the United States using biometric identification through a designated kiosk.

To become enrolled in the program, applicants must apply online, undergo a background investigation, and complete the in-person interview with a CBP officer. Applicants receive final approval as long as no disqualifying information is found. The $100 application fee allows for five years of membership.

Once applicants receive their conditional letter of approval, they may use the online scheduling tool in their Trusted Traveler Program Account to confirm an appointment for the event, the release states. Interviews will be conducted 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17.

"CBP's goal for these enrollment events is to partner with local stakeholders to provide safe and convenient venues for conditionally approved Global Entry applicants to complete the required interview with a CBP officer," Pembina Assistant Area Port Director Christopher Misson said in an emailed statement.

Global Entry kiosks can be found at 60 U.S. airports and 50 pre-clearance locations across six countries, according to CBP. Global Entry also provides access to the TSA Pre-Check initiative which offers expedited screening through domestic airport security checkpoints, including leaving your shoes on, leaving light outerwear and belts on, and not having to remove laptops from carrying cases.
