Two men indicted for second-degree murder in 2020 Lafayette shooting

Two Lafayette men were indicted for second-degree murder in the 2020 death of Telvis Benjamin, the 15th Judicial District Court announced Thursday.

Nathan Ray Carter, 41, and Jacoldy J. Fox, 32, both of Lafayette, were indicted after a grand jury decided there was enough evidence to formally charge the two in Benjamin's death. Benjamin was found shot when Lafayette Police officers were called to a firearm disturbance on May 30, 2020 around the 500 block of Joan Street near University Avenue.

Benjamin was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
