Two killed in two-vehicle crash Tuesday near Fort Randall Casino

Jul. 6—LAKE ANDES, S.D. — Two men died Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Fort Randall Casino.

Shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, authorities in Charles Mix County were called to South Dakota Highway 46, approximately one mile west of Fort Randall Casino, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Preliminary crash information released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2006 Ford Five Hundred was westbound on South Dakota Highway 46 when the driver lost control in rainy conditions.

The vehicle went into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2017 Subaru Forester.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

The 73-year-old driver of the Subaru was wearing a seat belt, and seat belt use is under investigation regarding the 29-year-old driver of the Ford.

Names of the two people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
