Two new exhibits opening in the storefront window galleries at the M

Oct. 23—Two new exhibits open Oct. 30 in the storefront window galleries at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, known as the M.

Though the M has been shuttered since the start of the pandemic, the downtown St. Paul museum continues to display exhibits in its storefront windows.

"Sutures" will be on display in the Robert Street Window Gallery. The exhibit was curated by Michael Khuth as a culmination of his fellowship with the Emerging Curators Institute. According to the M: " 'Sutures' centers an emerging generation of artists creating photo- and film-based artworks that complicate or expand upon still and moving images and their relationship with inheritance and memory."

"Transformation: Art from the Inside" opens Oct. 30 in the M's Fourth Street Window Gallery and Skyway EcoLab Entrance. Presented in partnership with Art from the Inside, "Transformation" is an exhibition featuring artwork by incarcerated artists. "Founded by correctional officer Antonio Espinosa, Art from the Inside empowers incarcerated people to rediscover purpose, inspiration and an outlet for emotions through art, while creating a platform for dialog about the complexities of our criminal justice system through exhibitions of their work," according to the M.

Both exhibits run through Jan. 29. The M, is located at 350 Robert St., St. Paul. For more info: mmaa.org.
