Two arrested in separate incidents in Grand Forks
May 8—Grand Forks Police officers were involved in a pair of incidents on the morning of Saturday, May 8, one of which involved a stolen vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle that had recently occurred. The vehicle was located heading north on North Washington Street, and officers initiated a pursuit for several blocks, before losing sight of the vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, the vehicle was located at the Loaf N' Jug and an officer attempted to make contact with the female driver. The female again fled from officers, traveling westbound on Gateway Drive out of town where she was pursued and apprehended by deputies of the Grand Forks Sheriff's Office.
The driver was identified as Farah Darco, 21, of Grand Forks. She was the only occupant of the vehicle and was transported to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. Charges are pending for fleeing in a motor vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle.
Also Saturday morning at approximately 5:04 a.m. police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Eighth Avenue North, for a report of a violation of a disorderly conduct restraining order in progress.
Officers arrived to find the suspect's vehicle leaving the area and lost sight of it. They found the vehicle in the 1100 block of North Fifth Street. The driver pulled over but refused to leave the vehicle. He then fled at low speed and was eventually stopped in the 800 block of Cherry Street.
The driver was identified as Wesley Johannessohn, a 37-year-old Grand Forks resident. Johannessohn was taken into custody, and has been charged with violation of a disorderly conduct restraining order, driving under the influence, DUI refusal, reckless driving and fleeing in a motor vehicle.
