Boys basketball

Jacob Strain, Griswold: Junior guard drained three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 13 points but the Wolverines (1-5) fell short against Bacon Academy, 50-44.

Evan Merchant, Griswold: Junior forward scored 11 points in the Wolverines’ loss against Bacon Academy in Colchester.

Tyler Nordstrom, Plainfield: Junior guard scored 16 points but the Panthers (1-4) fell short against Waterford, 49-43.

Ryan Weldy, Plainfield: Senior center scored 11 points in the Panthers’ loss at Waterford.

Girls basketball

Kylie Damble, Ellis Tech: Sophomore forward collected 10 rebounds, seven points and three blocks but the Golden Eagles (6-3) dropped a 36-22 non-league contest against Tourtellotte.

Wrestling

Connor DeVega, Brock Nowakowski, Dugan Marsh, Rhys Surprenant and Zaire Wallace, Norwich Free Academy: Wildcat wrestlers each posted wins to lead NFA to a 51-30 victory against Fitch. DeVega (138), Nowakowski (106), Marsh (132), and Wallace (170) all earned pins, while Surprenant (195) notched a 19-17 decision.
