SOFTBALL

Division 1 regionals

Kimberly 8, Appleton East 7

APPLETON - Kimberly built a six-run lead and staved off a furious comeback attempt by the Patriots to advance in regional action.

The Papermakers led 7-1 after a three-run top of the sixth. After East scored once in the bottom half, the Papermakers answered with a run in the seventh. The Patriots then scored five times as Morgan Stevenson re-entered as pitcher to record the final outs for Kimberly.

Megan McGinnis, Stevenson and Ali Cloutier all had three hits, with Stevenson adding three RBIs to lead the Papermakers offense. Taylor Haessly was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Clare Rettler was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Gwen Hendrick, Serena Timmer and Josie Neubauer added two hits each for the Patriots. Ava Smarzinski also drove in a pair of runs.

Menasha 10, West Bend East 8

MENASHA - The Bluejays scored in each of the first five innings and then held off a late charge en route to the regional win.

Maddie Zaves led the Menasha offense, going 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBIs. Carlie Morrow, Taylor Papendorf and Kiara Smith each had two hits, while Smith and Kylie Van De Loo drove in two runs apiece.

Aubrey Kueper was 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Suns.

Ashwaubenon 9, Appleton West 1

ASHWAUBENON - Morgan Jarvi and Elly Kirst had two hits apiece as the Jaguars knocked off the Terrors in regional action.

Kirst also had an RBI, while Elle Justman added a double.

Sarah Davis led Appleton West, going 2-for-3.

Division 2 regionals

Freedom 15, Fox Valley Lutheran 0

FREEDOM - Freedom scored five times in the first, four in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth to secure the regional win.

Rylie Murphy had the hot bat, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs. She had a double and a triple. Rachel Koss, Naleyah Bork and Sadie Jarmolowicz added two hits apiece, including a home run by Bork. All three drove in three runs as well.

Kierstin Kriewaldt also knocked in a pair of runs.

In the circle, Bork was dominant, not allowing a hit while striking out 11 in four innings.

Winneconne 6, Xavier 0

WINNECONNE - Macey Clark was perfect for the Wolves, pitching a perfect game while striking out 13 in the Wolves’ win over the Hawks.

Winneconne took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and then tacked on five runs in the second inning.

Jordan Biesinger had two hits and drove in two runs for Winneconne. Norah Kutnink had a triple, scored twice and drove in two runs.

Addison Hervey took the loss for Xavier.

Luxemburg-Casco 9, Little Chute 2

LUXEMBURG - Rebecca Kroll allowed just one hit and struck out 12 to lead the Spartans to the win over the Mustangs.

Josie Dorner had three hits and drove in three runs for Luxemburg-Casco, while Mady Bouche had three hits. Lauren Adams had two hits with a triple and two runs scored, and Kylie Hanson had two hits, including a double, with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Brooke Beahm had Little Chute’s only hit, which was a double.

Division 4 regionals

St. Mary Catholic 4, Weyauwega-Fremont 3

WEYAUWEGA - The Zephyrs scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for the regional semifinal victory.

In the top of the seventh, Teagan Miller drew a lead-off walk, Emily Vogel smacked a single and Nevaeh Saringer also walked to load the bases with no outs for the Zephyrs. An error brought in Miller, a wild pitch scored Vogel, and an RBI groundout by Jaylyn Akey cashed in the go-ahead run.

The drama wouldn’t end there as the Warhawks led off the final half-inning with a walk, which was erased on a double play bunt attempt. Another single and an error put the potential tying run on second base, but a pop up behind first base ended the game.

Saringer earned the victory for St. Mary Catholic going the full seven innings, giving up one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out four.

Hannah Pantzlaff hit a one-out single and stole second base to set up Olivia Witkowski’s two-out RBI single to get the Warhawks on the board first.

The Zephyrs tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single from Chloe Vogel, but a leadoff single and two SMC errors in the Warhawks’ half of the frame gave the lead right back.

Pantzlaff went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored for Weyauwega-Fremont. Witkowski took the loss after also pitching all seven innings, giving up only one earned run, two hits and four walks while striking out 11 batters.

Iola-Scandinavia 5, Shiocton 1

IOLA - Makayla Much, Marin Hoyford and Alexa Christoph had two hits each as the Thunderbirds built a five-run lead after five and held on from there.

Christoph had two doubles in the game.

Much was solid in the circle for Iola-Scandinavia, allowing just four hits and one walk, while striking out three in seven innings.

The second-seeded Thunderbirds (16-6) will host the No. 7 seed Algoma, a 10-4 winner over Coleman, on Thursday.

Hilbert/Stockbridge 5, Manitowoc Lutheran 3

HILBERT - The Wolves scored five runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Lancers.

Lillian Sheets tripled and Caitlin Raymond doubled as part of the rally for Hilbert/Stockbridge.

Jenna Lischka had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for Manitowoc Lutheran.

Anna Aldrete got the win for Hilbert/Stockbridge.

Aubry Schleis took the loss.

BASEBALL

Hortonville 3, Appleton East 2

HORTONVILLE - The Polar Bears scored twice in the seventh inning to defeat the Patriots.

Hayden Timm had two hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in two runs for Hortonville. Thomas Burns and Ethan Peters had a double and a triple, respectively.

Evan Olson had two doubles for Appleton East. Grant Wettig had two hits.

Sam Dodd pitched a complete game for Hortonville, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Chayce Schultz took the loss for Appleton East.

Neenah 6, Kaukauna 3

KAUKAUNA - The Rockets scored four runs in the third inning and finished with 11 hits in the win over the Ghosts.

Ethan Van Dyke had three hits for Neenah, whle Eli Schmidt and Will Sorenson both had two hits. Van Dyke and Schmidt both drove in two runs.

Sean Severson had two hits and two RBIs for Kaukauna. Pierson VandeHey also had two hits.

Beckett Davidson pitched the first 3⅓ innings and got the win for Neenah. AJ Price pitched the final three innings to get the save.

Jake Lucas took the loss for Kaukauna.

Freedom 6, Kewaskum 0

FREEDOM - Grant Meulemans pitched a complete-game shutout for the Irish, scattering just four hits while striking out a career-high 11 batters.

Tied with no score in the sixth inning, Jace Midbon hit a two-RBI single to get Freedom on the board. Two batters later, Meulemans crushed a three-run home run to put the Irish up 5-0. Matt Wyngaard also chipped in with two hits for Freedom.

With the win, the Irish improves to 17-5 overall.

Shiocton 13, Lourdes Academy 5

OSHKOSH - Dawson Schmidt was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, Logan Ebben was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Carter McPheron 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI as the Chiefs upended the Knights.

James Mutchie added a double and two RBIs for Shiocton.

Bennett Wilcox picked up the win, allowing just one earned run on three hits in two innings of work. He struck out two.

Adam Arnoldussen paced the Lourdes offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. He also took the loss on the mound.

St. Mary Catholic 9, Kohler/Sheboygan Christian 5

FOX CROSSING - The Zephyrs banged out 14 hits in their win over the Blue Bombers.

Fisher Mackenzie, who drove in two runs and scored twice, and Daniel Decker both had three hits for St. Mary Catholic. Owen Ripley drove in three runs. George Albers had two hits.

Aiden Case and Eric Zimmerman had three and two hits, respectively, for Kohler.

Albers pitched the first four innings and got the win for St. Mary Catholic.

Zane Willadsen took the loss.

Mosinee 12, Waupaca 2

MOSINEE - Mosinee used 11 hits to defeat the Comets in five innings.

Tanner Unertl had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs for Mosinee. Davin Stoffel had three hits and two RBIs. Trenton Dorn had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Eli Miland had two hits, including a double.

Mosinee improved its record to 22-2 with the win.
