Truckers top Clyde in home opener

Apr. 14—NORWALK — The Norwalk tennis team defeated visiting Clyde on Tuesday in the first home match of the season, 4-1, at the Norwalk Middle School courts.

With the win, the Truckers improved to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the SBC Lake Division. Norwalk opened with nine consecutive road matches prior to Tuesday's victory.

At first singles, Carson Colahan defeated Andrew Kauble in a sweep, 6-0, 6-0. Ashton Coe also won in quick fashion at second singles, beating Grant McMaster by scores of 6-0, 6-3. At third singles, Ethan Brown fell in a three-set match to Clyde's Mat Jackson, 6-2, 2-6, 3-10.

The first doubles team of Dylan Peaco and Braden Lloyd beat Kyle Flewelling and Sean Raby in a sweep (6-0, 6-0). The second doubles team of Bryan Sommers and Josh Newhouse capped the match with aw in over Kyle Klinski and Aidan Krintzline (6-1, 6-2).

The Truckers were scheduled to visit Lexington in a non-league match on Wednesday, followed by a home league match Thursday vs. Perkins. Norwalk caps its week at the Fremont Ross doubles tournament on Saturday.

Edison 4, SMCC 1

MILAN — The Chargers improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the SBC Bay Division with Tuesday's win over the visiting Panthers.

Lincoln Meredith topped Casey Crooks at first singles (6-2, 7-5) and Nate Spence beat Mason McGuire (6-4, 6-3) at second singles. Marcus Medina topped Will Cundiff (6-4, 6-2) at third singles for the Chargers.

SMCC's lone win came as Andrew Fullam and Parker Kasper defeated Parker Campbell and Noah Proctor at first singles (6-4,3-6,10-7). At second doubles, Noah Pulaski and Otto Berckmueller beat Jackson Dinsmore and Charlie Dafton (6-1, 6-0).

Port Clinton 5, Willard 0

WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes were swept by visiting Port Clinton on Tuesday in an SBC Bay Division match.

Aaron Stephens fell to Elliot Auxter (6-0, 6-0) at first singles, while Cam Robinson lost to Noah Shaw (6-2, 6-1) at second singles. At third singles, Jair Flores lost to Owen Auxter (6-2, 6-0).

At first doubles, Parick Huskey and Grant Arnold beat Grace Hall and Rojelio Lopez (6-4, 6-3), while Grace Rothhaar and Jaiden Sexton fell at second doubles to Claire Snyder and Averie Webb (6-1, 6-2).
