Trainer’s ‘savage’ workouts are unlike any other

Poppy Livers teaches Get Better OR Get Beat with his wife, Toni Livers, and the ethos of these virtual personal training classes is to work out like an athlete — even if you don’t consider yourself one. Poppy gives his Instagram followers a taste of what they can expect when training with the pair and it’s intense.

For one routine, Poppy lays down on his back. He then throws and catches a 20-pound dumbbell in the air a dozen times. In another workout, he completes an obstacle course on a steep, sandy hill. Overall, Poppy trains using a variety of high-impact techniques including footwork, lifting and elevated push-ups.

He flexed his commitment to the craft again in another video. This time using two exercise balls.

“Can you beat seven?” the caption reads.

The trainer sits on his knees on a large exercise ball while Toni tosses him another exercise ball. He bounces it on the floor, catches it and throws it back to her. With each toss, it becomes physically more strenuous. Poppy doesn’t quit. He grunts with each throw until the seven reps are complete. Then he plunges straight into a pushup position.

The video racked up 14,000 views on Instagram. It’s nothing short of impressive.

“You are an absolute savage,” one user wrote, praising him.

“My core is dead from watching,” another said.

“You always come up with something cool,” a person said.
